Foreign Exchange, often abbreviated to FX, refers to the trading of one currency for another. The trading of currency currently brings nearly $4 trillion dollars in turnovers a day. Not surprisingly a healthy economy, i.e. one that produces goods in high demand with increasing rather than shrinking jobs, also ups the value of its respective currency. These economic factors make the foreign exchange market a complex one, but one that the advent of the internet has made more accessible.

Struggling to get traffic to your blog? Well you are not alone, as getting visitors to your blog is the number one thing that people want to accomplish - and with good reason, the more people that visit your blog the more likely that you are going to make a sale or have someone join your mailing list (or whatever other reason that you are blogging for).

Here is the step by step plan that I do to make sure that I get traffic within 24 hours.

1. Write articles for your blog and submit them to article directories such as EzineArticles and goarticles. EzineArticles will take longer than 24 hours for your article to be approved but you will get more quality traffic from them so you should still submit your article to them. Goarticles is a lot faster (and will get you listed within 24 hours) but probably won't get you they same amount of traffic. I recommend submitting to both. You can submit the same article to both directories but for better ranking and more backlinks I recommend submitting two different articles to each directory.

2. Bookmark your site on social networks such as StumbleUpon and Digg. I seem to get more traffic from StumbleUpon than I do from Digg but it is still worth bookmarking at as many sites as you can. You can even get an account with places like Onlywire.com which will allow you to submit your site to many social networks at once saving you a lot of time.

3. Commenting on other people's blogs is another method that has proved extremely effective for me. If you have a blog, you want traffic. And one of the best ways to generate it is to comment on other blogs, particularly those in your niche.

The benefits are manifold:

Firstly, if the blog you comment on is a dofollow blog, then you will get some search engine juice from the comment.

One way to find these blogs is to Google for them. You just have to include the word "dofollow" and any other keyword or phrase you choose. You're bound to find a few of them this way. A search for "dofollow blogs list" will return many results, too.

You can also search for blogs with the CommentLuv plugin. Not every one of these blogs has dofollow installed, but quite a few of them do. Find 10 of these blogs, and maybe 3 or 4 will be dofollow.

You should also look for blogs with the Top Commentator plugin. If you become a top commentator - and often all you need to do is to post just one comment - you end up getting a dofollow link that is usually sitewide. That is, it appears on every page of the website, not just the particular post you commented on. It's like getting a permalink in the blog panel - except that it's not permanent, since it usually lasts for a month or some other finite period.
If you accumulate a list of these blogs and comment on them from time to time, you will certainly improve your traffic from search engines over the long term.

Alternatively, you can just not worry about dofollow and top commentator blogs. Simply search for blogs in your niche and comment on those. Since the above mentioned plugins are increasingly popular, the law of averages means that you will eventually encounter some anyway.

If you only ever made dofollow comments, and hundreds of them in a very short period of time, Google might frown on you. Regardless of the SEO benefits that commenting gives, it's still worth doing because it gets the attention of the owners of the blogs you comment on. Unless they have hundreds of comments every day, most bloggers read all their comments and look at the blogs of the commenters.

This is why writing really good, thoughtful comments is crucial. This will make them notice you in the first place, and then look at your blog. If they like your comments, and also what's on your blog, then they are more likely to link to you at some stage, either as a link back in a post, or by putting a permalink in the side panel.

Remember also that a high percentage of blog readers are bloggers themselves. So you might get a link back from one of them, too.

One final tip: Keep a record of all your comments. If you rewrite these substantially and expand upon them they will become unique content. Post these to your blog and you will draw still more targeted traffic to it!

So, are the benefits of promoting residual affiliate programs clearer to you now? Or are they still vague? If they are still vague, then let's make them a bit clearer with this example.

Suppose there are two online merchants both offering web hosting services on their sites. The first merchant offers a one-time commission type of affiliate program that pays $80 for every single affiliate initiated sale. The second merchant also offers an affiliate program, but this time a residual affiliate program that pays only $10 for every single affiliate initiated sale. As an affiliate, we may get attracted at once at what the first merchant is offering, as $80 is definitely a lot larger than $10. But by thinking things over before actually getting into them, one may be able to see that the second merchant is offering us more opportunity to earn a larger amount of money.

Supposed you have directed traffic to the merchant and it converted into a sale, you'll get paid once by the first merchant for the sale you have initiated. But with the second merchant, you'll get paid monthly for as long as the customer you have referred to the merchant continues to avail of the web hosting service. That means that for the same effort of getting one customer to avail of the merchant's service, you get paid monthly in residual affiliate programs while you only get paid once in a one-time commission type of affiliate programs.

So, are residual affiliate programs worth promoting? Definitely yes, because you virtually get more money from these types of affiliate programs in the long run! And would residual affiliate programs work best for you? Probably not, probably yes. It is not really for me to tell. But with the benefits that residual affiliate marketing can provide, it would really be unwise to ignore such programs.

They are calling him the million dollar man. Jason Calacanis recently revealed in his blog that he is on track to earn a million dollars from AdSense over the year ahead.

And if that number doesn’t wake you up and have you sitting on the edge of your seat, consider for a moment that he reached this level in less than a year. His company only started using AdSense in September 2004.

Calacanis runs Weblogs Inc., a network dedicated to creating trade weblogs across niche industries. And he's quickly proven that AdSense is a credible advertising partner.

As their network has grown, so has their AdSense revenue. In January 2005 they earned an average of $580 per day. In March it was $737. In May it was $1,585. AdSense works like this. Webmasters sign up for an account in just a few minutes. They receive a small snippet of code to include on their web pages. The problem begins with the "greeting" message you leave for callers. Your message probably asks callers to leave their name and phone number; and it ends by stating you will call them back "as soon as possible" (ASAP). Therein, lays your problem.

Think of your "greeting message" on your v-mail/answering machine as your electronic professional secretary or administrative assistant. Make it a professional message, one that provides callers relevant information and requests the same from them.

Record "greeting messages" that state who the callers have reached and what day(s) your message is for; ask callers to state their phone numbers twice and, then, state the purpose of their calls. Avoid playing "telephone-tag" by stating times when you can return calls, and ask callers for the best times for you to return calls to them.

Always avoid using the words, "I'll call you back as soon as possible." Your ASAP statement is nearly useless because, typically, your callers have no idea what your ASAP means. Does your ASAP statement mean you will call back after you return from a two minute trip away from your office, a two hour meeting, a two day business trip or a two week vacation? Then, too, are you in the first or second hour of a two hour meeting, first or second day of a two day business trip or first or last day of a two week vacation? As you see, your ASAP adds nothing but uncertainty to your "greeting message"; it does not help your callers resolve the conflict between your availability and the urgency or deadline for their talking to you, or someone else in your company.

Change your "greeting message" at least daily; make it the first thing you do. State the day of the week and the date, so your callers know your message is current. If what you do day-in and day-out is receive and place phone calls, changes in your availability throughout the day may require changing your "greeting message" several times each day. Based on the nature of your business, your message may need, also, to state the person and number to call in case you're not being available creates an emergency or crises for you and/or your callers. Here's the point; make your "greeting message" do for you what a professional secretary or administrative assistant would do if answering your phone. Your callers deserve nothing less, nor do you and your company.

For illustration, here are two examples of messages used this month:

Hello, this is Dr. Larry Baker. This message is for Wednesday, Thursday and Friday - November 1st, 2nd and 3rd. I'll be out of the office those days. Please leave your name, state your phone number twice, leave a detailed message and indicate a couple of times on Monday, the 6th, that would be good to return your call. I look forward to getting back to you.

Hello, this is DR. Larry Baker. Click fraud involves the process of intentionally clicking ads listed on your website for the purpose of earning money rather than intending to view the products of the advertiser. Adsense involves placing ads on your website for other businesses. The way your website makes money is determined by the number of clicks to the advertiser's link. Most websites who participate in Adsense are honest. However, the issue of click fraud is happening more often on the internet as the owner's of some websites have found it an enticing method of generating more money from the advertisers.

With the onset of click fraud, software has been designed to analyze data based on the traffic to a website. This information is used to determine the possibility of click fraud. If you advertise this way you should invest in click fraud software or you may pay more for advertising than you should be. This software costs from $99 to $299, so it is very cost effective. It is believed as much as 20% of the cost advertisers are paying out each month is due to click fraud. With 3.2 million dollars generated each year for this type of advertising, 20% is a very high dollar amount to be losing!

A common method of click fraud involves an online robot that clicks away at the advertisements listed on a particular website. This is the quickest method. Others either do it themselves, clicking away at the ads on their own website or they hirer others to perform the task for them at a price much less than what they receive in return from the advertisers. Sometimes click fraud is done not to make money but to sabotage competitors. This is done by finding websites that advertise for them and continually click the ads. This will then cost that competitor a great deal of money they have to pay out for advertising without any hopes of generating additional sales from that cost.

Those who participate in the act of click fraud should be very careful. There are strict guidelines in place by Google to protect the reputation of their Adsense operations. Anyone caught participating in click fraud will be banned from further advertisements on their website. Google has invested 2.7 million for their Fraud Squad. They feel this investment is worthwhile though as click fraud is a serious issue. It has the potential of destroying the entire advertising industry online as we know it.
There are legal issues involved as well. A California man was charged with obtaining more than $150,000 due to click fraud in 2004. He has been indited by a Grand Jury. However, there are no state or federal laws yet against click fraud. This particular man was only indited in his scam because he came clean about it with Google in a blackmail scheme. He was going to sell his secret of how he did it to Google for another $150,000. If they didn't give it to him he threatened to keep on doing it. If we can get state and federal laws to see click fraud as a classification of fraud with the possibility of a felony charge and jail time it may deter the amount of click fraud that takes place.

Click fraud is a huge issue that plagues the success of Adsense. If you participate in Adsense then be warned on both sides of the field. As a provider of such advertising don't be tempted to click on the ads yourself or with an automated system. The risk of getting caught is very high as are the financial and legal repercussions. As an advertiser pay close attention to high changes in advertising costs through Adsense. Take the time to question these increases. Is it click fraud or great increases in traffic? Have sales increased? It is a great idea to invest in click fraud software as well to protect your business as well as your advertising budget.

Every niche has forums; you can find them by searching in your favorite search engine for "niche forum". Try searching for "internet marketing forum" sometime and you'll be amazed at the number of results that come up.

When you're selecting a forum to join consider how popular the forum is, how easy it is to find and read some of the other posts. Posting on the right forums will build your reputation and grow your business by generating pre-qualified traffic for your sales page. Posting on the wrong forum, one that has poor ranking and few visitors may have the opposite effect.

Once you've found a forum where you would like to post, then you'll need to register in order to make contributions.

When you've registered, you simply search for relevant threads (discussion topics) and post your response.

When you post your response you can write it like a letter, sign it with your name and then include the url for your sales page. This will look just like a professional letter, where people write their title or position after their name. Writing your url after your name in a forum post will give it weight in the mind of the person reading your post.

The tone of your posts should fit in with the tone of the discussion thread you're posting within. Some forums are more formal in their relations than others, and some posts within forums can be more or less formal in their posts.

The key to successful traffic generation using this Forum Post Strategy is never, never advertising your site or products. There are two kinds of aggregators to register your website with. One is a downloadable program for your desktop and the second kind is an online or web based site.

Lets suppose you want to turn your internet income stream into a full time income replacement.

What type of website traffic and numbers do you need to do this?

What are realistic traffic numbers you can expect and need to accomplish this?

What can you do to improve your website numbers?

Lets be conservative in all our numbers and don't worry I will do the math for you. So if you want to replace $30,000 (a moderate income by todays standards) a year income with affiliate sales how will this have to work? From what I have seen so far the average return on an affiliate sale is $10 to $20. So lets take a mid point of $15.00. This means that to make $30k in a year we would have to sell 2000 affiliate products in a year ( 30000/15=2000).

2000 is not a huge number considering all the people on the net. Now we break this down to the number of sales per day. 2000/365=5.5 or 6 sales per day. Again sounds reasonable. Now comes the sad truth!

If a new website translates .1% to 1% of traffic into sales that means we need 1000 to 100 visitors to make a sale or (6 x 1000 = 6000) visitors a day to make our 6 sales a day. If our website is good at returning sales perhaps the 600 visitors would be closer to our requirements.

What does this mean? Lets suppose we are using Pay Per Click Advertising on Google to drive traffic to our new website. If we chose low cost key words at $.10 a click our costs will be $60.00 to $600.00 to get all the traffic we need to generate our 6 sales to make our income. But wait we now have paid out $60.00 to get $90.00 worth of business (best case scenario 600 visitors) We are ahead of the game but not making our living.

As long as we are ahead of the game PPC is valid but it should not be our only focus. We need to optimize our website so it ranks well for free searches of our targeted keywords. This will boost our traffic at no cost to us.

This also means that each visitor to our website is valuable and we should give them the best experience possible so that they wish to return. If at all possible we should get their name and email address so that we can contact them again with product offers.

It also means that external links to our site should be considered very valuable since they will bring more customers our way.

Don't be fooled by the numbers of website traffic and don't be dissuaded by them either. You will need a lot of visits to make a steady income but this is possible with the right techniques.

Squidoo is a cross between a blog, a mini site, and a My Space page. Squidoo calls the sites "lenses" and the people who produce the sites are called "lensmasters."

Squidoo also offers you a chance to make money online from your lens. Squidoo makes its money from affiliate advertising with Google AdSense, Amazon, Ebay and several other sites. I have heard from Internet Marketers who are just starting out with their new business who complain that they have gotten themselves in debt trying to get their business off the ground. They are upset with themselves and their business. They are upset with the internet in general. So how is this common problem avoided?

The answer is so easy and yet so often overlooked. Create a budget. But how do you know how much to put aside? If you have read any of my past postings you will know that there are a lot of free forms of advertising that you can do so spending a ton of money is not necessary.

If you have a website you will need to budget for your hosting fees. I choose to host my website through Host4Proft. One of their catch phrases is "We Turn a necessity into a Profit Machine!" and it is true. I not only utilize all their features, I also receive a generous monthly commission on sales I refer to them. It is a great marriage. I have a hosting company that provides me with a ton of extras and I get paid to tell others how great they are. The proof is in the pudding. I wouldn't stay with Host4Profit if their services weren't stellar and I couldn't be one of their affiliates if I wasn't also a client.

So you have your website hosting fees to consider. If you are part of a program, you may or may not have membership costs. Figure out what your monthly required spending is. If you are just starting out, this can be all you are able to budget for. If you want to put a little extra into some paid forms of advertising, that is up to you but it is not necessary.

Look at the costs you currently have and look at the amount of money you have to spend every month on your business. If, after your required fees are covered, you have money left over you can utilize that for paid advertising or other business expenses. If you don't have money left over you will have to put paid advertising on the back burner and concentrate on free advertising.

Once your business starts to make money, you can put some of that money back in to your business and increase your budget.

This is an important aspect of running your own business. Even an online business needs to be budgeted for. You can overextend yourself and then be left with no business at all. Growing your business will take time and effort but the rewards are great. So keep plugging away. Consistency will breed success.

Their blogs are good and their postings are interesting, but no one is coming to visit and they want to know how to increase traffic. This is actually easier than it seems once you know how. In this article, we will go over 8 specific methods of increasing traffic. These are guaranteed methods to draw more visitors to your blog.

Tip #1: Sign up for pinging services

It seems pretty obvious, but even many experienced bloggers don't sign up for pinging services. If you don't know what pinging means, when your blog is updated a "ping" is sent out by the services you've registered with to let participating sites know that your blog has been updated. People who are visiting these related sites or get feeds from them will then see your blog flash across the side of the screen as "newly updated".

Pinging services include weblogs.com, Google Blog Search, and ZingFast. Do an engine search to find more of these services, there are a lot of them.

Tip #2: Sign up for Technorati

If you go to technorati.com, you'll see an option on the left side of the screen called "Claim Your Blog". Submitting here allows you to get updated link counts, add your photo or logo to Technorati, and see your Technorati link. Having your blog claimed on Technorati helps to increase traffic because the millions of people who go to that site will have a chance to see your blog on there.

Tip #3: Sign up for FeedBurner, an RSS service

What FeedBurner basically does for your blog is help you to promote your blog's content and build and measure your audience. In other words, it helps you increase your blog's traffic. As with the pinging services, check the search engines for more sites you can send your RSS feed to, as there are a lot more of these as well.

Tip #4: Bookmark your blogs at places like del.icio.us

You can set up an account and profile at del.icio.us. Then you can add links to your blog along with excerpts from it. Anytime someone visits your profile on del.icio.us, they will see a link to your blog and excerpts. There are other social bookmarking sites that you can use in much the same way, a pair of currently popular ones are Digg and Twitter. The bottom line is, using these social bookmarking sites can help you increase traffic.

Tip #5: Post comments at other blogs

No, this doesn't mean you should go and spam other blogs with comments that are only there to promote a site. It means that you should visit similar blogs to your own and as appropriate post legitimate comments and then sign your name along with a link to your blog. This way, people know you aren't there just to promote your site--you're there to post a good piece of feedback and also say where you're from.

Tip #6: Ask owners of other blogs to post a link to yours

Find other blogs that are similar to yours. If they seem to be reasonably popular (that is, they have a good amount of comments for each post), you can try to contact the owner of the blog to add a link to yours if they have a links section. To make them really want to do this, you can offer to link back to their blog on yours. People do this reciprocal blog linking all the time and it does help to increase traffic.

Tip #7: Use keywords in your blog for SEO

Like regular web pages, having a good keyword density on a blog is a terrific way of getting search engine spiders to notice your page. If your average blog posting is around 200 words, try to use 2-6 repetitions of each keyword per blog post.

This would create a keyword density of between 1 and 3 percent, a respectable number. Remember that you don't want to use too many keywords, as that will make your blog postings read poorly. Also be sure that the keywords used are relevant to your blog. Before even making a blog posting, decide what the post will be about and then select a keyword or two to use in your post. It's a surefire way of getting more traffic to your site!

Tip #8: Submit to site directories

Most site directories out there - and there are thousands of them - have a blog category. Once you've got a reasonable amount of content on yours, start submitting it to these directories. They are good ways to be found by searching surfers and each directory listing you're given will eventually be counted as a back-link by the engines. A very good thing!

How To Double Your Response In Google Adwords by Pete Grundner

The #1 mistake that costs online advertisers thousands

95% of advertisers make this mistake. As discusses in my other article titled "How Google evaluates Your Adwords Campaign", Google works very differently from other search engines concerning pay per click campaigns.

So what's the #1 mistake that costs the average advertiser thousands? The answer is encompassed in two simple words - "Content Network". Google will probably never tell you this because they make too much money from unknowing novices spending more than needed, being unaware of their "Content Network".

When setting up any pay per click campaign in Google (Google Adwords), there are three main areas in which you can display your ad:

Google Search
Google Search Network
Google Content Network

Google Search and Google Search Network normally deliver relevant searchers. By default however, Google already has their Content Network checked for you on their ad set-up page. But how closely matched is the Content Network to your Adwords? Usually it's not well matched at all. You will get lots of clicks from responders to these extended relevance sites, however, the quality of this traffic is horrific at best. Not only is the traffic terrible, your click rate will be much lower when including the Content Network. What's worse, if you remember my last article, one of the key factors that affects your ad position is your "average click rate", so this can be a double negative whammy. By just de-selecting "Content Network" (in the "Edit Campaign Settings") you can significantly improve the click rate of your campaign which will then also give you better ad positioning.

Remember, the better your click rate, the higher your ad will be positioned. If your click rate drops below about 0.5%, your ad will rarely display at all. On the other hand, if you have a click rate of 2%, 3% or even higher, your ad will be positioned much higher than if evaluated by price alone.

One more negative alert - click fraud within the "content network" is much greater.

Another great way to improve your ROI and lower your cost per click is to examine where your traffic is coming from within the Google Search Network. If you determine that a lot of traffic is coming from partner sites like www.ask.com for example, you could eliminate the "Search Network" targeting as well and save some additional money. Advertising on these partner sites directly will save you about 50% for each click. The downside, of course, is that it will take more time to manage the extra campaigns. It also depends on your overall budget. The more you invest, the more it is worth looking at the option of eliminating the Search Network as well and setting up separate campaigns on sites like ask.com.

The bottom-line is that, just by de-selecting "Content Network" you will dramatically improve your results and save huge amounts of money.
